Chad Thompson
Assessment and Consulting Experience
Chad Thompson has worked as a leadership assessor for over a decade. As a career external consultant, Chad’s clients have ranged from start-ups to the Fortune 100. He has experience working in a variety of sectors, with a particular emphasis on pharmaceuticals/biotech, retail, and financial services. Recent executive assessment clients have included Amgen, Nationwide, Liberty Mutual, and American Electric Power. Chad has also advised companies such as Macy’s, UCB, Stanley Steemer and private equity companies on talent-related issues.
Chad began his career as a consultant with AonHewitt, where he focused on building selection processes for a wide cross-section of functional roles. Chad has also started and led two consulting practices. Most recently, he co-founded Mix Talent, where he leads the assessment and consulting team.
Business and Career Background
Chad has worked with a wide variety of leadership levels, from front-line managers to CEOs. His work centers on gathering and utilizing data to help individuals and organizations make better decisions about maximizing their talent. Chad combines a deep understanding of psychometrics and personality psychology with a pragmatic, business-based approach to executive assessment. He is experienced in using a number of different assessments and works with clients to translate these objective results into meaningful insights on a company-specific and role-specific basis. He often partners closely with internal and external executive coaches to identify client strengths and potential areas of development.
In addition to his executive assessment work, Chad helps his clients tackle challenges related to employee development, organizational structure, senior management team dynamics and decision-making, and scaling organizations. Competency and behavioral modeling, culture definition, and workforce planning are also a large part of his consulting work.
Education and Certifications
Chad received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from Wright State University after earning a B.A. in Psychology from Wittenberg University. He has been a Member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology for many years and has presented research at their national conference. Chad is credentialed to conduct and debrief Hogan and EQ assessments.
Chad’s academic research on selection and management has been published in The Psychologist-Manager Journal and Applied Human Resource Management Research. His perspective on contemporary talent issues has been featured in publications such as HR Magazine and Human Capital Institute and in invited keynote addresses to organizations such as the American Society of Employers
